This month celebrates and recognizes the achievements, contributions, and inspiration of Hispanic-Americans in our communities and around the world. As Latinx Heritage Month unfolds, our very own Alex Brunetti, Vice President of People (Americas), takes a moment to reflect on her journey.
Born to a Puerto Rican mother and a Dominican father, Alex explains she comes from a large family of aunts, uncles, and cousins, some in the US, and many still on the islands. She was raised in a loving “home where family and culture were at the center of who we are.”
"Everything I do in my life and career is to make them proud of the person I have become."
Her parents worked incredibly hard to make sure Alex and her brother had access to education, allowing them to “do better” than they did. Alex reflects, noting, “My success is equally their success.”
Now a mother herself, Alex is committed to passing down those cultural values to her own children. “It’s my job to keep the traditions of our culture alive so they always know who they are and where they come from—two people from the islands who met in the Bronx and built a life and family together.”
The Latinx community at Celonis is represented by our Business Resource Group (BRG), Latinx@Celonis, which includes nearly a hundred members across chapters in Madrid, Munich, and New York. The BRG engages members with insightful articles each week that delve into various aspects of Latinx culture, covering topics from social influences to renowned athletes, creating a dynamic platform for cultural exploration and connection. In addition to this, they host events like guest speaker panels, educational workshops, and networking gatherings.
More than a network, it offers mentorship, career guidance, and growth opportunities. The mission is simple: to create a vibrant and supportive community that recognizes the unique perspectives, talents, and contributions of Latinx heritage.
For Alex, becoming the Executive Sponsor of Latinx and Allies @Celonis has been a meaningful part of her journey. Celonis, with its global workforce, has given her a platform to celebrate Latinx heritage alongside her colleagues. She notes how the "company’s hub in Madrid feels like a microcosm of Latinx culture, with people from Spain and many parts of Latin America."
"The Latinx community at Celonis has allowed me to feel more at home and feel a stronger connection with my culture because I get to celebrate it with so many others."
Alex describes the team culture as humble, ambitious, and curious. “We aim for excellence.” This balance, she says, is what drives everyone at Celonis to make a difference in their work and make a positive impact on others.
“In the end, we all want to make a difference in the lives of those we touch.”
Reflecting on her four years at Celonis, Alex sees significant personal and professional growth. “No two days were the same, and that continues to be true,” she shares. She joined the company during a pivotal period, eager to influence its direction and shape the experience of her colleagues. Over time, the challenges of navigating a rapidly growing organization have made her more resilient and composed in the face of adversity.
“I am incredibly proud of this company and the people I get to work with.”
As Alex looks to the future, she is dedicated to preserving her heritage and empowering others to take pride in their own, both at home and at Celonis.
